Welcome to the first half of my Suitcase Series! I'm going to divide this series up into 2 posts rather than spread it out over 10 posts (eleven if you count the introduction) because I don't have the patience or time to blog every day for that long. So without further ado, here's what I have planned for days 1 through 5.
The first day is the easiest, of course. The gray T-shirt pictured in this Polyvore set isn't as form fitting as mine, but I almost wish I would have gotten a looser fit for myself. My cardigan is a worn thing I got from Old Navy a couple of years ago (as are my Bermuda shorts, which I'll get to in a minute). It's got some pulling near the sleeves which probably means its two washes away from worn out. But it's been a good run.
I'm on the fence about keeping the shorts. I don't like light-wash denim; I looks weird on me. I'd much prefer a dark wash or even black. But they're my only pair of Bermuda shorts as of now; I'll probably donate this pair after I'm unpacked. Finishing up with my Chucks and my new Sole Society saddle bag, I've got a great day 1 outfit planned.
I'm bringing back the gray T-shirt but swapping out the shorts for the black leggings, the saddle bag for my Fossil tote, and the Chucks for the sandals. I'm surprised at how just trading in the accessories and shoes can class up an outfit with minimal effort. My sandals, by the way, aren't as high as the ones pictured here so I can still walk without falling on my face. With the addition of my Fossil watch, I'm ready to have a casual dinner with a few friends and maybe see an early show.
I'm wearing this outfit over to a friend's house to binge watch some Netflix. My color block shirt looks identical to the one pictured with the exception of the sleeves: mine are long. Paired with the denim leggings and Chucks, I feel comfortable kicking my feet up and laughing along at The People v OJ Simpson. Shut up, I love that show.
Time to play (casual) dress up! It's getting hot outside, so I can bring out Lilly without guilt. The dress pictured is the one I own, actually. The pattern is called Tusk In Sun and it's adorable and comfortable. The tote keeps it comfortable enough to enjoy brunch with my husband but the watch is a nice, fancy touch.
I'm ending the first half of the Suitcase Series with a shirt and pants combo I haven't worn yet: my gray cowl neck blouse and my red jeans. I'm not normally a person who likes to mix a lot of colors (given that my big orange head is enough color for me). The cowl neck I own is a different brand and more charcoal than the one in the picture, but it works as both a really nice blouse to wear into the office or with a pair of crisp jeans for errands or just lounging around the house for the day. With this outfit, I could probably trade the Chucks for the sandals and add back in my watch if I had an outing.
So that's part one complete! Come back later for days 6 - 10; I still haven't gotten to a few items!
